Big Ben

Quick update: Benjamin is getting bigger! He is 1500 grams now, about 3lbs 5oz and 16" long. Today he was upgraded from his incubator to an open crib. He has gained a total of 90 grams the past two days!!! (He has been averaging around 80-100 per week). He continues to do well on CPAP.

Please pray for Benjamin's eyes. 80% of preemies have issues with their eyes ranging from just needing some mild correction to blindness. Benjamin had his second eye exam today. It is still early to know exactly what will happen, but they can tell that he does have at least mild retinopathy of prematurity (where they retina is under developed and the blood vessels are only partially grown into the retina). They are particularly concerned about the vessels that are on the side of the eye closest to the ear, as they do not appear to be growing like they should. We know we serve a big God that is the Great Physician and can bring Benjamin's eyes into complete maturity. Please join with us in prayer for Benjamin's eyes - that he will be able to enjoy the visual marvels of God's creation through sight and that the retinopathy will be healed and the vessles will grow properly. His next eye exam is next Wednesday.

As always, thank you for lifting Benjamin up in prayer!
